No-Prep Veneers
Ultra-thin veneers bonded directly to teeth without removing enamel.
No-prep veneers are ultra-thin porcelain shells (0.2-0.3mm) bonded to the tooth surface without any enamel removal. The most well-known brand is Lumineers. They are an attractive option for patients who want to avoid drilling and prefer a reversible procedure (though long-term bonding changes make true reversibility debatable). However, no-prep veneers have limitations. Without tooth reduction, veneers add bulk to the tooth, potentially creating an over-contoured appearance. They work best for narrow teeth, spaced teeth, or worn teeth where added material is beneficial. They are not suitable for: teeth that already protrude, dark teeth requiring significant color masking, or teeth with existing restorations. Careful case selection is crucial for a natural result. Success rates are comparable to traditional veneers when properly indicated.
