Dentsun

How dental veneers are designed, prepared, and placed.

The dental veneer process begins with a consultation where the dentist evaluates the patient's smile, discusses goals, and determines candidacy. Digital smile design tools may be used to preview the expected results. Impressions or digital scans are taken, and a diagnostic wax-up or digital mockup is created for the patient to approve the final design. For traditional veneers, a thin layer of enamel (approximately 0.5mm) is removed from the front surface of the teeth. Temporary veneers may be placed while the permanent ones are being fabricated by the laboratory. Minimal-prep and no-prep veneers require little to no enamel removal, preserving more natural tooth structure. During the bonding appointment, the veneers are tried in, adjusted for fit and color, and then permanently bonded using dental adhesive and a curing light. The result is a natural-looking, durable restoration that can transform the appearance of the smile. Proper care including regular brushing, flossing, and avoiding excessive biting forces ensures long-term success.
