Dentsun

The process of being fitted for complete or partial dentures.

The denture fitting process involves multiple appointments over several weeks. Initial impressions create study models, followed by custom trays for more precise final impressions. A wax rim is made to establish the correct bite relationship, and teeth are set in wax for a try-in appointment where the patient can evaluate appearance and fit. During the try-in, the dentist and patient assess tooth position, color, and overall aesthetics. Adjustments are made before the denture is finalized in acrylic. The delivery appointment involves inserting the finished denture, checking the fit, and making necessary adjustments for comfort and proper occlusion. New dentures require an adjustment period of several weeks as the oral tissues adapt. Follow-up appointments address sore spots and refine the fit. Over time, bone resorption may require relining or rebasing the denture. Implant-retained dentures offer superior stability and can significantly improve chewing efficiency and patient confidence.
