Cosmetic Dental Timeline
Expected treatment durations for common cosmetic dental procedures.
Cosmetic dental treatments vary significantly in duration. Same-day procedures include professional whitening (60-90 minutes), composite bonding (30-60 minutes per tooth), and contouring/reshaping (30 minutes). Two-visit procedures include porcelain veneers (2-3 weeks between appointments), crowns (1-2 weeks), and inlays/onlays. Longer timelines apply to comprehensive cases: full smile makeover with veneers (4-8 weeks total), orthodontic alignment followed by veneers (12-24 months), gum contouring with healing before restorations (3-6 months), and implant-supported restorations (3-9 months). Many cosmetic plans sequence treatments: whitening first, then shade-matched restorations. Rush options exist (same-day CEREC crowns, in-office whitening) but may compromise quality for complex cases.
